A related initiative in the Glasgow new music scene is Composers’ Symposium – a pamphlet-journal featuring short essays by composers based in Scotland, critically examining such problematic and ideological concepts as inspiration and taste in relation to individual compositional poesis.   Issue 1 – Composers on what the word ‘inspiration’ means to them – was published in December 2015 and Issue 2 – Composers on taste and tastes in relation to creative work – will be published this month.

Issue 1 contains essays by Jay Capperauld, Gregor Forbes, Samuel Beagles, Lucy Hollingworth, Martin Keary, Henry McPherson, and Alex MacKay.
